Have you ever thought about the two types of people that make up the world when it comes to faith? Please read 1 Corinthians 1:18-25. The apostle Paul bring to the Corithian believer’s attention that there are really only two types of people when it comes to people going to heaven when they die. The two types of people are those who believe the message of the cross and those who don’t. The message of the cross is foolishness or absurdity to those who do not believe that Jesus Christ is God’s son and their only hope for salvation and eternity in heaven. On the other hand for those of us who believe the gospel message- that we are sinners in need of salvation, that we cannot save ourselves because of our own sinfulness we need a Savior. God demonstrates his love for us in that while we were still sinners his Son the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins. (Romans 5:8) He was able to die for our sins and make full atonement for them because in God’s eyes he was sinless and fulfilled the Law’s requirements. God did say and has proven it over many times that he is able to destroy the wisdom of the wise and the intelligence of the intelligent. (Isaiah 29:14) We can ask the same four questions that Paul asked the Corinthians about where is the wise, the scribe or scholar and the debater of this age? You can read about them in a book on human philosophy, listen to people who misinterpret the Scriptures for their own gain or even listen to some of the best public speakers today on Ted Talk, even some preachers fall into this category. These are the ones quick on their feet and can steer a conversation where they like at will in a debate. The problem arises when preachers really do believe and preach the word of the cross. Some people like the Jews still ask for miracles to be done so that they can believe. Seeing is believing for them. These are the same one who say that the Lord Jesus Christ was cursed because he was hung on a tree according the the Scriptures, asking how can someone cursed by God save us from our sins. Still the philosophers in Paul’s and probably some today question how God can save us from our sins when His Son died a criminal death on the cross. The Lord said in Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways.” In other words God’s wisdom, God’s foolishness is high about human wisdom and the two shall never meet. How can a finite human being who is born dead in trespasses and sins, born in time dies in time comprehend an eternal God who is infinite? He can’t! In God’s wisdom the world through its wisdom cannot know God because God made it that way. So at the end of the day no matter your nationality, no matter what faith your were born into because of the family heritage, you by your response to the God will prove God’s wisdom to be true. You will either submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and call upon him in faith to save you or you will not. God calls people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as the body of Christ shares the gospel message. As the gospel message is being shared God the Holy Spirit works in the heart of people awaking them to their sin and their need for salvation. Are you going to believe God’s testimony about the Lord Jesus Christ? If not then you have called down God’s judgement on yourself.
