The Lord’s messengers cannot impart God’s wisdom without the help of the Holy Spirit at work in their lives as well as the lives of those who hear. Please read 1 Corinthians 2:9-16. Earlier Paul told the Corinthian believers that he imparted wisdom but not the wisdom of this age. He imparted God’s wisdom through the help and ministry of the Holy Spirit. Paul reminds us today that no human being is able to imagine what God has in-store for us who love him. He teaches us that the Spirit of God reveals to us what the Lord Jesus would have us know. Jesus teaches us about the coming ministry in John chapter fourteen and sixteen. We read in 1 Corinthians 2:10 b that the Spirit of God searches everything, even the depths of God. God’s Spirit is all knowing because God is all knowing. In fact he is everywhere present and all powerful. We often forget this biblical truth about God. God’s Spirit searches every person, knows every person and reveals to every person their true state before Holy God. David the psalmist writes this: O Lord, you have searched me and known me! David was all too familiar with the LORD searching his heart. Later in the Old Testament the LORD informs Jeremiah to tell the people of Israel this biblical truth that still applies to all of us today. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? “I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give to every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” Jeremiah 17:9-10. In the New Testament we are reminded of the Spirit’s intercession on our behalf. “ And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for us with groaning too deep for words.” (Romans 8:27) Later in the book of Revelation in Chapter two where the Lord Jesus reveals what his message is for the church in Thyatira this message. “And I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works.” (Revelation 2:23) Have you humbled yourself and allowed the Lord God to search your heart? The Lord’s purpose in all of this is to sanctify us to make us like Christ Jesus. We often cheapen the grace of God by thinking that since all of my sins are washed away, and I have been baptized that I can go on living how I want to live, demanding that God bless us as we continue to live in sin. We must remember the Lord has given us the Spirit as a deposit until the day of redemption. The ministry of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us is to make us holy like the Lord Jesus is holy. If you have been born again and have the Holy Spirit living in you are you spending time with the Lord in his word (the Bible) and spending time in prayer with him so that he can transform you?
